If you looked carefully you might have seen a famous bear out and about on the Island last week.

Pudsey was joined by a BBC film crew when he visited the windmill, the Royal Hotel, the Candy Shop and the clock tower in Sheerness last Tuesday.

His visit was to launch this year’s Children in Need appeal, which members of the Isle of Sheppey Round Table are supporting.

Windmill owner Caleb Watson has been put in charge of the Round Table’s national fundraising for the charity.

For the filming, Sheppey round tablers were joined by members from around the county and Essex while they visited various places to put out their collection boxes.

It is hoped the footage will be shown on this year’s appeal – November 18.

Members of the Ladies’ Circle also joined in by baking cakes.

Fundraising events for Round Table members this year will include a beer tasting evening and their annual trip to Wembley.

Mr Watson said: “It was really nice for all the members to come together and for the children to meet Pudsey.

“I would like to say a big thank you to staff at Sharrocks for putting up with us.”

Mr Watson also thanked the Sheerness-based Bond Group which has offered to transport the collection jars and banners around the country.
