Two schoolboys are running a love heart campaign in memory of their grandparents.
Year 8 youngsters Kalon Whibley and Robert Ayers, from Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey’s east site, are fundraising throughout the year to raise cash for charity Cancer UK.
The first initiative involves charging fellow pupils 50p to write a message to a loved one or pet on a giant heart, which will go on display at the school.
A sponsored walk and a ‘guess the sweets in a jar’ contest are also planned to help raise £500 for the charity.
School spokesman Marion Jones said: “It’s a really great initiative that came out a sad situation for the students.
“It gives everyone a chance to remember their loved ones at this time of year.”
