Sheppey Classic getting new lease of life
10:19, 09 May 2012
This year’s Sheppey Darts Classic is on course to be the best yet.
The competition will be celebrating its tenth year next month and with BDO ranking points on offer there will be no shortage of talented players taking part.
Organiser Tony Cox (pictured) is delighted to have the lure of the BDO – one of the two major Darts organisations – to give the event a boost.
"We feel like this is giving the competition a new lease of life and with the BDO points and the extra publicity there is no reason it won’t go well," said Mr Cox.
"We are pushing to get even more BDO points as the £7k prize fund is bigger than many of their other events.
"We have clashed with events elsewhere before, like the BDO competition in Holland, but we aren’t doing that this year and that will help. We are looking at making it the best yet."
This year’s competition takes place on the weekend of June 16 and 17 at the Merlins Complex in Leysdown. Money will also be raised for Breast Cancer Awareness and the Sheppey Youth Club.
