Islanders had a whole lot of fun with food at a custard pie fight flash mob.

More than 100 people took part at Beachfields Park near the sandpit off Beach Street, Sheerness, on Saturday.

After battle commenced, participants had 15 minutes in which use their weapons, which consisted of squirty cream or foam on paper plates.

The free spontaneous gathering was organised as a bit of fun and it had been hoped there could be an attempt to break the world record for the biggest custard pie fight but sadly this ambition turned out to be pie in the sky.

Organiser Bertie Crablegs said: “It’s the first one. I was a little disappointed with the turnout but those who did attend thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they all stayed to clean upafterwards.”

He said he would like to hold more free fun activities for Islanders with the next one, a zombie run (see page 2), already being organised.
