Darren Luck beat man with metal bar after appearing on Jeremy Kyle show

Just weeks after appearing on The Jeremy Kyle Show, a thug attacked a father in front of his children, it's been revealed.

Darren Luck, of Jefferson Road, Sheerness, was jailed for two years and two months at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.

In November 2014, the 35-year-old set upon another man as he was walking through an alleyway in Weller Avenue, Rochester, with his two children and their mother.

Luck, who was known to the victim, approached him from behind and beat him over the back of the head with a metal bar.

Police arrested him at his home the next day after he fled the scene.

His victim required hospital treatment.

Now it's been revealed, just weeks before carrying out his violent assault, he made an appearance on the ITV show, where he accused his girlfriend of being a liar and faking an abortion.

In the episode, which was screened in January, host Kyle chatted with Luck before his partner appeared for a loud, centre-stage clash with him.

Afterwards, a message was sent out from the programme’s official Twitter account saying the couple “are much happier in their relationship and since the show have got engaged”.

An ITV spokesman said: “Any guests who appear are asked if they are subject to any ongoing legal proceedings.”

As his crime occurred afterwards, this would not have affected his appearance.

Speaking after he was sentenced, investigating officer Det Con Rebekah Kerr said: “Whatever differences Darren Luck had with his victim, there is no excuse for carrying out such a vicious attack in front of the man’s two young children.

“Luck is very fortunate that more serious injuries were not inflicted that day, otherwise he may have been facing an even longer prison sentence than the one passed down by the judge.

“He is clearly a dangerous individual who cannot control his temper, and members of the public are safer with him behind bars.”
