20:22, 29 July 2023
Police are investigating a suspected arson at a former library.
Fire crews were called to a blaze at a derelict building in Trinity Road, Sheerness at 2.50pm.
It broke out in the ground floor of what was formerly the county library.
Five fire engines and a height vehicle attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, which were coming from old furniture and waste material.
A full search of the building was carried out and, as it is believed the fire was started deliberately the scene was left with Kent Police to secure.
Crews had left by 4.20pm.
