Police seize drugs and weapons after car searched in Beach Street car park in Sheerness

Drugs and weapons including a machete have been seized by police after a vehicle was searched in a car park.

Officers on patrol in Beach Street, Sheerness, during the early hours of this morning noticed the vehicle with its lights on.

As officers approached, the lights turned off and a man was then seen running away.

Several large bags of cannabis and a block of white powder, believed to be cocaine, were found in the car.

Two knives, two knuckle dusters, a machete, BB gun, catapult and balaclava were also discovered and seized by officers.

A 19-year-old man, from Aylesford, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

He remains in custody as inquiries continue.
