A teenage girl is recovering after falling out of a flat above Gigi’s Cafe in Sheerness High Street.

Jessica Ripley, 16, is thought to have plunged from the first-floor window early today.

Her mother Clara Ripley and the girl’s brother John ran to her aid after hearing her screams but say they put her back to bed.

It was only in the morning when the teenager complained of pains to her back that paramedics were called and took her to hospital on a stretcher.

Startled shoppers watched as Sheerness firefighters arrived to get her out of the house and cordoned off the pavement.

Crew manager Paul Schembri said: “It was very tight inside the flat with a narrow staircase so at one stage we considered taking her out of the window.”
