There are drivers who refuse to use the Sheppey Crossing, so how would they cope with these wacky routes?

A list of the craziest bridges in the world has been put together by online vehicle repair company ClickMechanic.

It includes the Eshima Ohashi bridge in Japan, which is not for the faint-hearted as it rises sharply to allow ships to pass underneath.

Then there is the Millau Creissels in France, where drivers need a head for heights as it's the tallest bridge in the world.

As for the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in China, it took four years to build and goes on and on and on, stretching 26 miles across the sea.

In comparison, the Sheppey Crossing, which opened in 2006, did not make the list.

It is just over one mile long and towers 100ft above the Swale at its highest point.

Those that want to avoid the newer route on and off the Island can always stick to the lower-level Kingsferry Bridge.
