Sheerness ‘Spoons plan appears to moving forward
00:01, 05 September 2013
Plans for a national pub chain to set up shop in Sheerness appear to be moving forward.
Last month we reported how the Times Guardian had learned Wetherspoon is looking at the former electrical shop Brittain & Hobbs, pictured, in the High Street.
The pub company is expected to complete a sale sometime next week but are staying tight lipped on any details.
It would still need planning permission and licensing if the deal does go ahead.
Brittain & Hobbs went into liquidation in January 2012 after nearly 40 years of trading and the building has been empty since then.
Watford-based Wetherspoon has become known for offering low prices on food and alcohol and has almost 800 branches in the UK.
