Lower Road in Minster closed for 11 hours after three-car crash

A road was closed for 11 hours after a multi-vehicle crash.

Police were called at around 5pm to reports of a collision involving three cars in Lower Road, Minster, Sheerness.

As a result, motorists on the Isle of Sheppey faced long delays on the A2500 between Barton Hill Drive and the B2231 Sheppey Way.

A spokesman from the force at the time said: “No serious injuries have been reported.

“The road remains closed while the incident is attended to.”

It was reported to have reopened at around 4am – 11 hours after the accident.

Commuters who were caught in the traffic expressed their frustration on Facebook.

One said: “Nightmare journey on the Island – took me an hour and a half from the bridge to get to Warden. Pleased no one hurt in the accident.”

Another added: “I know that feeling. Left work in Maidstone at 5.15pm and got home at 7.05pm.

“Drove through Sheerness and Marine Parade and up through to other side to Minster.

“Hope those involved in accident are ok.”

The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
