Verdict still awaited in birthday killing case
00:00, 22 February 2007
A JURY considering a verdict on a woman accused of murdering her boyfriend at their flat has been sent home for the weekend.
Kirsty Scamp, 20, has denied murdering Jason Bull on his 28th birthday at their home in High Street, Sheerness, on March 13 last year.
Mr Bull died from a single stab wound to his chest. Scamp claimed she picked up the knife in self-defence as her boyfriend attacked her.
The jury of six men and six women had deliberated for 19 hours 23 minutes over three-and-a-half days before being sent home.
Judge Andrew Patience, QC, asked the jury if they were likely to reach a verdict given more time. The jury foreman replied that they would like to start afresh on Monday.
