Why Tracey is a happy bunny
00:00, 26 February 2004
ANIMAL lovers have come to the rescue of an over-run rabbit refuge on the Isle of Sheppey (Helen Cockersole writes).
Tracey Thompson, of Belgrave Bunnies has been inundated with offers to take on homeless rabbits following an appeal in last week’s Sheerness Times Guardian newspaper and the KM Group's website.
The Minster-based refuge had become so full that it was at financial breaking point, forcing it to turn away needy rabbits.
But the influx of offers means loving new homes have been found for around half of the 90 rabbits that had been in the refuge’s care.
Mrs Thompson said: “I have had some really, really lovely people come forward. It’s just amazing. There is now light at the end of the tunnel.”
Anyone else wishing to find out more about housing a bunny is asked to contact Mrs Thompson on 01795 661931.
