Minster host old rivals Sidcup looking to clinch survival in Kent League Division 3.

The Islanders have moved 28 points clear of the bottom two with three games to go after beating OD CUACO with a ball to spare last weekend.

Another win on Saturday should be enough to keep them up and there’s nobody they’d rather be facing.

Vice-captain George Duggan said: “It’s our biggest game of the season. We’ve had this rivalry with Sidcup over the last three or four years where we’ve been up and down the leagues together.

“It’s always quite feisty against them and we love that sort of game. We enjoy that extra bit of banter – it gets the best out of us.

Virendra Vegda made 97 before tailenders Joe Sands and Aidan Cain completed a one-wicket victory as Minster chased down 229 on Saturday.

Duggan led the team, with captain Martin Hammond unavailable. He said: “It looked like we would win easily when Virendra and Callum Hughes were together, then they were both out and we had the classic Minster collapse.

“It was nerve-racking at the end but Joe and Aidan did well to get us over the line.

“One of the umpires said to me it was the best game he’d ever taken part in.”
