A two-car crash closed the main road into Sheerness docks today.

Police and and ambulance were called.

Witnesses reported long tailbacks of traffic.

The accident happened near Whelan's "garden gnome" factory around 3pm in Brielle Way, Blue Town. The road is the main route into Sheerness Docks.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 3.08pm to a collision in Brielle Way, Sheerness, involving two cars. Police officers went to the scene. No injuries were reported."

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We arrived at the scene but our services were not required and we stood down."
