A head-on smash between a bus and car – where the driver had to be cut out – has sparked a huge emergency response.
An air ambulance landed at the scene of the accident in Staplehurst Road, Bobbing, between Sonora Way and Windmill Road at about 8pm.
The female car driver was taken to hospital while the bus driver from Chalkwell Coach Hire is said to be unharmed but shaken up, according to the firm’s boss.
Explaining CCTV footage will be reviewed in the coming days, Roland Eglington added: “We have had a bus involved in a head-on collision with a car this evening on the B2006 Bobbing link-road.
“The lady driving the car has been cut out of the vehicle and taken to hospital.
“We understand that there were no customers on the bus at the time of the collision.
"We're lucky the driver appears to be okay and we very much hope the driver of the other vehicle isn't too badly injured.
"It's a horrible thing to happen."
Emergency services are currently at the scene, with police in attendance. Officers have blocked off part of the road.
An air ambulance was seen landing in Milton Recreation Ground nearby at around 8pm.
Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
