Residents who say they are “trapped in their own homes” could face more misery as another road in their town is closed.
Murston Road, in Sittingbourne, is shut from today (April 11) to allow Southern Water to repair a collapsed sewer.
Motorists are not able to turn into the road at the traffic lights on the A2.
The road is expected to be sealed off until Friday, April 19.
However, a worker at Murston Fish and Chips said they had heard the closure would only be in place for three days.
A spokesman for Southern Water confirmed its team is repairing a collapsed sewer.
They added: “Due to the nature of the repairs this may take a number of days and a road closure is necessary to carry out the work.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience this is causing residents and businesses in the area.”
Residents in Sittingbourne have said they are seeing daily traffic snarl-ups and lengthy queues leading them to feel trapped in their own homes.
Many have said they are being forced to dump their cars wherever they can and finish their journey on foot due to the gridlocked roads and many cannot even park outside, or near their homes.
