Armed police were called to Sittingbourne following reports a man was in possession of a weapon.

It follows reports of a disturbance in London Road at 2.53am today.

A police spokesman said armed officers attended as a precaution and arrested a 33-year-old man from Sittingbourne in connection with the incident.

Police were initially looking for a second man and later revealed a 32-year-old, from Chatham, had also been arrested.

Armed police were also reportedly seen in High Street this morning.

No injuries have been reported.
