Ban on Sunday greyhound racing overturned
00:00, 12 December 2003
MEMBERS of Swale Borough Council's planning committee has overturned a decision to ban Sunday greyhound racing at Sittingbourne's Central Park Stadium.
Cearnsport Ltd, which runs the greyhound nights had been holding Sunday racing at the track since 1998 without realising it was breaching a condition of its planning permission. In June, the committee decided to stop the racing on Sundays.
Despite receiving a number of complaints from residents in Harris Gardens and Sunnybank, councillors have now agreed that racing should be allowed on Sundays.
