Sittingbourne bus shelters smashed in town centre
09:22, 24 April 2023
Two bus stops were vandalised including one outside an NHS building.
The glass in the shelter had been smashed and was spread across the floor in St Michael’s Road outside St Michael’s House in Sittingbourne.
Another shelter was also vandalised in front of a nearby Travelodge hotel just metres away from the first bus stop in the same road.
One resident, Sophia Riaz-Condron, said: “I don’t understand why people do this – such idiots honestly.”
Another, Richard Jack, added: “I really don’t understand what people get out of it? What exactly have they achieved? Even as a kid, I just didn’t get the mentality of it.”
Others believe replacing the glass in bus shelters with plastic could prevent repeated incidents happening.
A council spokesman said: “It’s sad to see the damage that has been done, and we’d urge anyone with any information about who did this to contact the police.”
A police spokesman confirmed the incident had not been reported to them.
