Emergency services were called after a car caught fire on the M2.

It happened coastbound between junction 5 for Sittingbourne and junction 6 for Faversham just after 8am.

A police spokesman said: "The vehicle was on the hard shoulder and there were no reported injuries.

"Officers and fire crews attended and temporary lane closures were put in place.

"The fire is now out and police have left the scene."
