Dramatic photos show the aftermath of a car fire on the A2.

The vehicle caught fire on the busy route through Sittingbourne town centre this morning, just outside Grid House.

Crews were seen leaving the fire station, which is just up the road from the scene of the blaze, just before 7.30am.

St Michael’s Road was partially blocked in both directions as a result.

One fire engine attended and the blaze was extinguished by 7.48am.

Police were also at the scene directing traffic while motorists were advised to approach with care.

No injuries were reported.
