Medieval Mops Fair returns to Sittingbourne High Street
14:01, 18 September 2015
A Medieval Mops Fair will return to the town this weekend.
It takes place in Sittingbourne High Street between 11am and 4pm on September 26.
There will be live music, a hog roast, minstrels, actors, a magician and fairground attractions as part of a day of celebrations organised by the Sittingbourne Retail Association (SRA).
It will also include an array of food from the past and present.
Performers and traders will be dressed in Middle Age costumes, with buildings also being decked out in medieval decoration.
Town crier Richard Spooner will announce the events during the course of the day.
SRA spokeswoman Sara Seabridge said the festivities would serve as a reminder the town was steeped in history and was once a hub for traders, farmers and travellers.
“This is the second event of its kind in Sittingbourne for over 400 years. We hope it will get people talking, get interested in our heritage and get people into town,” she said.
