A broken-down vehicle towing a combine harvester added to traffic woes this evening.
One lane was closed on the A249 southbound between the A2 and M2 J5 near Sittingbourne.
National Highways tweeted warning motorists of the closure.
“Recovery remains on scene,” it said. “There are delays of at least 30 minutes in the area.”
The road was reported to have reopened at around 7pm.
It is just one of a number of traffic incidents taking place this afternoon.
Today along the same stretch of road, drivers were left stationary after a vehicle fire broke out.
Footage from the scenes shows dark grey smoke billowing from a vehicle with a fire engine nearby.
The M20 was shut earlier this afternoon due to a police emergency on the carriageway.
