David Mason confident of bringing speedway success to Kent Kings in National League
10:23, 30 January 2013
Confident Kent Kings captain David Mason expects the club to win silverware in their debut season.
Mason has been handpicked to lead the Kings’ charge when the National League campaign starts at Central Park in May.
The 36-year-old is the record points scorer at National League level and is excited by the challenge of heading the new Kent team.
Promoters Roger Cearns and Len Silver are yet to go public on their rider line-up but Mason (pictured below) said: "I know who I’ll be racing with and if we don’t win something this season, there’ll be something seriously wrong.
"Len even said to me if we don’t win the league with the team we’ve put together he’ll eat his own hat.
"I can’t mention names but it’s a strong team. The league is the one thing I haven’t won. I got close with Weymouth, finishing second and I’d love to do it with Kent.
"Dudley, Isle of Wight and Mildenhall will be our biggest rivals in the league but I know how good our team is and we can do it."
