Father jailed for killing baby son
00:00, 10 June 2005
A 43-year-old Kent man has been jailed for four years after being convicted of killing his five-month-old son.
Christopher Pink, of Crown Road, Milton Regis, near Sittingbourne, had denied the manslaughter of Bobby by shaking or throwing him against soft furnishings, but a jury at Northampton Crown Court found him guilty by a majority of 11 to one.
Pink denied and was acquitted of abusing his baby son while living at his former home near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, in January 2003.
The prosecution told the jury that death was due to subjural and retinal haemorrhaging - bleeding around the brain and eyes - and blood in the spinal cord.
Experts said Bobby’s injuries were neither due to natural disease nor accidental injury.
