Firefighters have battled a blaze at a building used as a paint store in Milton Regis.
The fire broke out at Peking Inn in the High Street at around 6pm when members of the Fire Brigades Union were striking as part of an ongoing row with the Government over pensions.
Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed they were called and a crew is still at the scene making the area safe.
There were no reported injuries and no one was trapped by the fire.
It is not currently known what started the blaze.
Harvey Melia, owner of The Paper Mill micropub in Sittingbourne, witnessed the fire.
He said: "There was loads of smoke billowing into the air. It seems to have stopped now."
