Crash on M2 near Sittingbourne causing long delays

Multiple vehicles have been involved in a collision on the M2 near Sittingbourne.

Traffic officers assisted at the scene on the London-bound carriageway.

Police were called to a five vehicle crash at 6.30am where officers attended along with paramedics but police have said no serious injuries have been reported.

One fire engine arrived at 7.22am and left half an hour later at 7.54am after the crew had made the area safe.

The fire service said it had dealt with four vehicles.

A witness said: "There's what seems to be a delivery van on the embankment and it looks like it's about to tip over."

The incident this morning (October 12) is said to be ongoing with traffic queueing for three miles due to the accident.

One lane of the exit slip road at Junction 5 towards Sittingbourne and Stockbury has been closed and National Highways is urging drivers to pass with caution and not to use the closed roads.

The road reopened at around 1.30pm.
