Fundraiser set up for Newington mum with incurable cancer to help her spend make memories with family

A Newington mum says she is determined to make precious memories with her three boys and fiancé after receiving the devastating news she has incurable cancer.
Friends have rallied around 31-year-old Karen Weekes and set up a fundraising page so she can take her young family on special trips, after she learned last month she has three tumours on her brain.
She also has cancer of the ovaries and pelvis.
It comes after the brave mum fought off the disease four years ago.
Karen, who has three boys - Cody-James, 12, Cayden, nine, and Koen-Leigh, four - told the Sittingbourne News: "I was absolutely distraught when I found out, I honestly couldn't believe it. My first words were 'I want my babies, I don't want to die, they need me'.
"I can't do much, I'm in pain most days and I'm not allowed to be left alone in case of seizures or fits.
"I'm trying to stay strong but I struggle on some days and just break down.
"I can't change what's happening so I just want to make as many possible memories with my children and partner Alex."
The pair got engaged last year and were planning a wedding for next May.
Her bucket list also includes things like visiting Legoland Windsor and Shrek Adventures with her boys.
She added: "My two eldest are old enough to know what is happening and are struggling with it all."
Karen's friend Roxanne Kennedy, who set up the online fundraising page, wants to raise £2,000 to help the family make those special trips a reality.
She said: "Karen is one of the loveliest people you could meet.
"Life has been unkind to her with what she's going through, but she is a strong woman and a fantastic mother to her children.
"Every day she is posting about praying to God for another day, not knowing what is going to happen.
"She deserves something exciting to look forward to. Hopefully a wedding and some good days out with her fiancé and her three beautiful boys."
Karen, of Pear Tree Walk, Newington, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2017 and underwent a full right-sided mastectomy.
She decided against reconstruction. After completing six rounds of chemotherapy she beat the disease, and was cancer free for three-and-a-half years.
But in February she began to experience "excruciating pains" in her head which later turned out to be three brain tumours.
Kings College Hospital medics say Karen's cancer is treatable but not curable and that it would be to dangerous to operate on her.
Karen started her brain radiotherapy yesterday in Maidstone, which is set to finish on April 7.
