Gas leak shuts Harold Road in Sittingbourne as SGN carry out urgent repairs
15:23, 05 November 2024
A gas leak has caused a one-way residential street to close.
Harold Road in Sittingbourne is currently shut to allow SGN engineers to make it safe.
“We’re carrying out urgent repairs to our gas network following a leak on Harold Road, near to its junction with Shortlands Road,” a spokesman for SGN said.
“Our engineers completed the required repairs to the affected pipe late last night.
“We’re now working to restore the areas around our site to their original condition.
“While our reinstatement process continues, the road closure installed at this junction remains in place for everyone’s ongoing safety.”
A signed diversion route has already been put in place for drivers.
KCC Highways has confirmed the one-way order on Shortlands Road between Cowper Road and Harold Road will be suspended during this time.
The works are expected to be completed by next Monday (November 11).
