Mr Callaghan checked-in with youngsters who were sent home after the government shut the country's schools to all children but those of key workers.

He called on them to remember to be respectful of parents and everyone else at home.

He said: "It must be a bit strange having to do your learning at home at this moment in time.

"It's very different perhaps to what you're used to but I'm hoping you're able to crack on and enjoy some of the challenges that your teachers have been setting for you this week.

"We might not be at school working in the same building but we're a school where we can wear our Holywell badge on our hearts wherever we are and whatever we're doing.

"We're team Holywell and we can do this and we can get through it."

In a rallying call, Mr Callaghan reminded the youngsters of the school's values.

"Just remember what our values are, being ready to do our learning and take on the challenges we're facing," he said.

"Taking some responsibility for the things that mums and dads might be asking you to do.

"We need to be respectful as well, remember mums and dads are there to try and help and support you in the best possible way they can."

He added: "Hopefully we'll be back again as a school really, really soon."
