Scarecrow Trail back in Lower Halstow, near Sittingbourne, raising funds for Friends of Lower Halstow School

Scarecrows have once again taken over a quiet village this half term.

The annual Scarecrow Trail is back in Lower Halstow near Sittingbourne for the fifth year running.

Running until 4pm on Sunday, this year’s theme is Animals: fact or fiction.

This family-friendly event is free to attend, with maps showing the locations of the scarecrows available to download online.

A spokesperson said: “All we ask, is that if you enjoyed the trail, please consider making a donation to Friends of Lower Halstow School.

“This can be done online directly via our website, or in person at the village shop or The Three Tuns pub, where donation pots will be located.”

Visitors will be asked to vote for their favourite scarecrow on Facebook and winners will be announced at the end of the week.

This year’s event is being sponsored by AJ’s Academy of Dance & Drama, a performing arts school based in Sittingbourne.

A number of other local companies and organisations have sponsored individual scarecrows, including Bell’s Glass & Glazing, Crescent Digital Marketing, Hen Weekend Chicken Boarding and Lower Halstow Parish Council.
