A fitness trainer is encouraging people to take up skipping and raise cash for the NHS at the same time.

Sittingbourne-based Chris Walker, known as The Jump Rope Coach, has created a special edition NHS Heroes beaded jump rope to raise money for the Medway Hospital Charity.

The rope, which is beaded in blue and white NHS colours, is available for £9.99 from his website, with the entire £5 profit from each sale going towards the charity.

Mr Walker is encouraging people to take up the exercise and do a bit for the health service at the same time, and so far more than £500 has been raised.

He said: "Skipping, or jump rope, is a great way to keep fit at home. It's easy to do even if you’re staying indoors.

"It’s great for physical and mental health, and all you need is a rope to get started. It’s a great way for people to support the NHS and take up a new fitness hobby."

Donna Law, charity and fundraising manager at Medway Hospital Charity, said: "We are really thankful to The Jump Rope Coach for raising money to support our incredible team here at Medway Maritime Hospital.

"It's the little things that make a big difference. The most requested items, from staff wearing personal protective equipment, are face cream, hand cream, shower gels and deodorants and the £5 profit from your jump rope purchase will pay for these."
