Sittingbourne library closed following assault

A library has been forced to shut early after a serious assault on two members of staff.
Sittingbourne Library has been temporarily closed after the incident which was reported at 10.15am.
Police and ambulance were called to the Central Avenue branch after two workers were attacked by a customer.
One of the injured women was taken to hospital and her colleague conveyed to the minor injuries unit.
Both have since returned home.
A 46-year-old woman from Murston was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.
Kent County Council said it was grateful to a library customer who went to the aid of the two injured employees.
The library is expected to remain closed until early next week.
