Lorry breakdown causes jams
00:00, 11 March 2004
A BROKEN down lorry on the Kingsferry Bridge between Sittingbourne and Sheppey caused massive delays for motorists trying to get on and off the Isle of Sheppey this morning.
The Pratt's Bananas lorry was on the Sheppey-bound carriageway of the A249 on the only route on and off the Island.
The rush-hour delays stretched back to the Kemsley turn-off on the mainland and exacerbated the daily queues on the Sheppey side. The lorry was eventually towed away at about 8.45am.
