Firefighters were called to an industrial estate after a grab lorry caught alight.
The lorry, which is on the Eurolink Industrial Estate in Sittingbourne, caught alight with thick smoke billowing from the vehicle on Sunday.
Three fire engines were called in at about 3.20pm, one from Sittingbourne, one from Faversham and another from Eastchurch.
Smoke was reported to be billowing from the vehicle before the fire spread to some nearby fences and a pile of rubbish.
One of the first to get there, firefighter Nick Gammon, said: "The water supply wasn't very good there so we had to bring in the extra third fire engine."
A police spokesman confirmed officers were called in to help with "road safety measures".
The cause is not yet known.
