Queues were tailing back for nine miles on the M2 earlier due to an accident this morning.
Traffic was piling up on the eastbound carriageway just after junction 5 for the A249 and Stockbury Roundabout, and back to junction 4 for Gillingham.
The queues also affected the A249 southbound.
Following the earlier accident, a lane was closed but was later reopened - however, delays remained for a significant time following this.
Kent Police attended a one-vehicle accident between junction 4 and 3, but only closed the road for around five minutes so officers think the traffic may have been due to another incident which did not require police help.
All traffic has now cleared.
