Man charged with ramming car into hotel

A YOUNG man accused of ramming a car into Sittingbourne's Coniston Hotel in January has been committed for trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
Joseph Williams, 20, of Deaham House, Cavel Way, Sittingbourne, is accused of causing criminal damage to the back doors at the hotel by driving a stolen car into them.
He is also accused of causing criminal damage to the front of Sittingbourne Police Station in another incident on the same evening, and of aggravated vehicle taking and driving with excess alcohol and without insurance.
He appeared in Sittingbourne magistrates' court where no plea was entered. He is due for a pre-trial hearing at the crown court on June 11. Mr Williams was granted conditional bail.
