Police and paramedics tried to save the life of a man after they were called to a house in Murston.
Officers and crews from the ambulance service were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man shortly after 7pm yesterday.
Two ambulances and at least five or six police cars were seen in Oak Road.
Paramedics worked on the man, who was in his 40s for more than half an hour, but he was declared dead at the scene.
A police spokesman said: "His next of kin have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be completed for the coroner."
