A motorcyclist rushed to the aid of an elderly woman who was involved in an accident along a road notorious for car crashes.
The crash happened outside the Co-op in London Road, Teynham, leading to three hours of gridlock.
Police were called just after 3.30pm yesterday after a collision between a car and a stationary vehicle.
Ian Maggs, the bike rider who witnessed the crash, said: “I watched the car crash straight into the back of a parked car outside the Co-op.
“I ran over and got the woman, who was in her 70s, out as the engine was smoking and looked like it was going to catch fire.”
Ian stopped the traffic in London Road and called the emergency services.
He added: “I sat the woman down and let other people look after her while I tried to deal with the traffic.
“She told me she had chest pains, I just hope she is ok now.”
Police attended alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
A spokesman said: “Minor injuries were reported and the road was cleared by 6.40pm.”
Earlier this year there were calls for more to be done to stop speeding along the stretch of London Road between Faversham and Sittingbourne following numerous deaths, accidents and speeding on the route.
The A2 is known as a blackspot for crashes and fatalities due to speeding and hill with a blind rise.
A SECAmb spokesman said: “Ambulance crews attended and one person was assessed and treated before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for further checks.”
