Missing Upchurch goats mysteriously return safe and sound
17:00, 11 May 2015
Two baby goats who were stolen from a village restaurant and farm shop in an overnight raid have mysteriously returned almost a week after they went missing.
Employees at The BarnYard in Upchurch arrived at work to find beloved kids Izzy and Elsa gone on April 25.
The duo were in a large shed at the back of the business with other farmyard animals when they were taken.
In the days that followed, thousands of people shared posts about their disappearance on social media websites in the hope of reuniting the adorable pets with their owners
The BarnYard has since used its Facebook page to announce the news that everybody had been hoping for.
“We do not know much more at the moment, and they are being checked over, but hope to have them back on site in the next few days" - The BarnYard
“We are ecstatic to announce that our two goats, Elsa and Izzy, have been returned to The BarnYard, apparently unharmed,” it said.
“We do not know much more at the moment, and they are being checked over, but hope to have them back on site in the next few days.
“We are very grateful, and a bit overwhelmed at the number of people that shared and engaged with our post.”
It is unclear exactly where the goats have been for the week, but there had been fears they had been stolen in a rustling attack to be eaten.
Following the announcement of their return, hundreds of social media users expressed their joy at the news.
One woman posted: “If only they could tell you where they’ve been”.
Another commented: “Going to bed with a big stupid grin on my face so pleased they’re ok [sic]”.
BarnYard officials were unavailable for comment.
