Traffic on the M2 has been blocked during the evening rush hour after a car landed on its roof.
Firefighters were called and motorists are facing delays due to the incident from Junction 6 for Faversham, and Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and the Stockbury Roundabout.
Queues have been building along the 10-mile stretch since the incident at about 5.30pm which was cleared about 90 minutes later.
One person was taken to hospital with a head injury following the crash.
A fire service spokesman added: "KFRS was called at 5.10pm and attended the scene of a single-vehicle road crash which left one car on its roof between junctions 6 and 5 on the M2 London-bound.
"Crews made the scene safe by temporarily closing the road ahead of the arrival of police and highways officers, then assisted with medical care as the driver was already out of their vehicle. The driver was then passed to the care of paramedics."
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called on Wednesday, March 8, to a report that a car had overturned on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 near junction 7.
"Patrols and paramedics attended the scene where a man was treated for a head injury before being taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.
"One lane was closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicle. It reopened at around 8.30pm.
People were told to expect an extra 35 minutes of travel time through the area while the overturned car's wreckage was cleared.
Shortly after 7pm, National Highways confirmed the road had fully reopened.
A spokesman said: "Long delays remain in the area but should now start to ease.
"Thanks for your patience if you were held up this evening."
