There was traffic chaos during rush-hour after a lorry overturned at the Stockbury roundabout last night (Wednesday).
Police, ambulance and Sittingbourne firefighters were all called to the incident just after 5pm where a 44 ton arctic that was carrying paper, was found on its side close to the opening of the Maidstone bound carriageway of the A249. Luckily the lorry didn’t shed its load during the incident and no other vehicles were involved.
Firefighters isolated the vehicle's electrical supply while ambulance crews dealt with the driver of the lorry. The extent of his injuries are unknown but it is understood he was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.
The area was initially coned off traffic diverted around the lorry but the A249 Maidstone bound exit road from the M2 was eventually closed at 8.45pm so the lorry could be recovered.
The road was re-opened by 11.50pm
