Firefighters were called to Kingsdown Road in Lynsted, near Sittingbourne, when falling embers from a bonfire caused flames to spread to an adjacent field.
When crews arrived at around 1.30 yesterday afternoon, they found three acres of scrub well alight. A large cloud of smoke was drifting over Lynsted Lane.
The firefighters tackled the blaze from both sides of the field using a hose reel jet, a fog spike which creates a fine mist of water to suppress the flames, beaters and flexi-packs.
The fire was out within 35 minutes.
