Police alert over stolen fireworks
00:00, 19 October 2001
POLICE are anxious to trace £500 worth of industrial fireworks stolen from a farm in Kingsdown, near Sittingbourne. The fireworks, intended for industrial displays only, were taken from Sky High Stage at Hole Stage Farm sometime between Monday night and the early hours of Tuesday morning.
PC Tina Billington-Hughes said: "These fireworks are not intended for displays in people's back gardens and could pose an obvious threat to the public. They need special tubes to be placed in them before they are lit and normally are only handled by trained professionals.
"They explode instantly when ignited and are meant solely for industrial purposes."
The fireworks have 'Sussex' or 'Dynamic' written on the side. Enough of them were taken to fill a large transit van.
Anyone with any information or has been offered the fireworks should contact Swale Police 01795 477055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
