Pop-up Co-op in Upchurch to close after fire at main store

A pop-up shop set up after a fire ravished a Co-op store has closed.

Back in April, the Co-op store in Upchurch burst into flames, with smoke damaging the inside and windows shattered.

Villagers were told it would be shut for the foreseeable future but managers stepped in and set up a trailer in the yard next to the ruined shop.

But the pop-up shop closed permanently from Saturday evening.

It has not been confirmed when the main store will reopen.

At its height, four fire crews were fighting the blaze on April 29 in The Street, with a couple living in the flat upstairs evacuated.

The Co-op has been contacted and asked to supply a comment.
