An Indian restaurant which lost a day's business due to a power cut is thanking customers for their support when it had to shut at short notice.
Bengal Spice, in Station Street, Sittingbourne, lost at least £800 in business on New Year's Day when an unexpected electrical outage plunged the road into darkness.
The restaurant was unable to serve customers and though it had only been out of action for two hours, owner Koviruz Zaman was forced to close early.
After announcing the news on social media, the restaurant was inundated with positive messages.
Manager Al Mamun said: "More than 300 people commented on our posts made on Facebook and other social media sites.
"All were positive words so we appreciate the community for sticking with us."
As a way of saying thank you, the restaurant is offering discounts of almost a third off takeaways and dine-in bills in two days of specials.
The first is 30% off collection and delivery orders today made through Bengal Spice's website.
The second is 30% off for all dine-in customers on January 20 – meaning if you book anytime from today for next Friday, you will be eligible for the discount.
Both offers will be given to orders of £30 or more and includes soft drinks.
Alcohol isn't sold on the premises but those wishing to have some with their meal may bring their own.
