A major road was blocked this afternoon because of jack-knifed car transporter.
Police were called to the Sheppey-bound carriageway of the A249 at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, shortly after 1.30pm
The road was closed while the transporter was recovered and it reopened at 4.35pm.
Police said it was closed from the slip road for the Key Street roundabout, with traffic coming off at the roundabout and back on again at Bobbing.
There were long delays in the area.
Traffic was at a standstill near the Key Street turn-off on what was possibly the hottest day in the UK ever recorded.
One driver said his car thermometer said 41C.
It had a knock-on effect on the M2, with traffic queuing back to Junction 4 for Gillingham.
Police said no injuries had been reported.
