Woman hit by car on London Road, Sittingbourne

A woman is being treated for serious injuries in intensive care after being hit by a car in Sittingbourne.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after the pensioner was knocked down by a green Ford Fiesta in London Road yesterday evening.
Officers and ambulance crews were called to the A2, close to the junction with Burley Road, at about 5.45pm.
A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “We sent two ambulances and four cars.
“The woman, aged in her 80s, had suffered serious injuries, including head injuries.
“She was taken as a priority to King’s College Hospital in London.”
It is believed she was crossing the road when the collision happened.
The road between Hawthorn and Chalkwell roads was closed for several hours last night while police investigated.
Traffic was diverted.
