Seven vehicles involved in crash on A249 at Kemsley turn-off, near Sittingbourne
13:50, 09 July 2016
Police were called to reports of a seven-vehicle crash on the A249 near Sittingbourne.
The smash happened just before noon on the Maidstone-bound carriageway, by the turn-off for Kemsley.
A blue Vauxhall Zafira, which caught fire, a red Volkswagen Golf, a black BMW 120D and a red Land Rover were among the vehicles involved.
A police spokesman said no one had been seriously hurt and the road was clear by 1.30pm.
The accident compounded delays on the A249 caused by this weekend's Kent County Show.
Evening rush-hour queues stretching back more than two miles built up Maidstone-bound yesterday after the traffic lights at Stockbury roundabout were switched off.
And there was more congestion on Delting Hill this morning as traffic headed for the showground.
